Landowners who share our goal of protecting natural or historical lands can work hand-in-hand with the Kenton Conservancy in using a land conservation option on their own land. These options are flexible and may qualify for a variety of income, property, and estate tax benefits.
Conservation Easements are one of the most successful options by which landowners can protect the legacy of their land for future generations while maintaining ownership for themselves and their family. These easements are individually drafted deed restrictions that reflect the goals of the landowner with the assurance the Conservancy will honor their wishes of protection over time and through changes in ownership.
Land Donations can be made by gift or through a Will to the Conservancy. This option is a wonderful way to share the land with future generations, for the land can be designated a nature preserve or developed as a park. The donation can be set up in a way that allows the landowner to live on and use the land during their lifetime.
Bargain Sale is the selling of the land for less than its fair market value. This option makes the land affordable for the Conservancy while the owner may receive tax benefits in addition to the sale price and some satisfaction that they have contributed to land conservation.
